Well, we took the plunge into social media influencer marketing. We used the influencer platform, FameBit, a division of YouTube. The platform was easy and simple to use. On FameBit, there are influencers with YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Tumblr, and Twitter audiences. We posted a YouTube campaign that influencers or creators could respond to with a proposal. We sought YouTube influencers because we wanted more video content for our products. Right now, video is the content king. In the seven days the campaign was open, we received 75 proposals. We chose two: The Southern Fried Maple Leafs (TSFML) and Jacob Cavin, the influencer formerly known as iFunnyVlogger.
We chose Jacob because he was young, energetic, and most of all, enthusiastic about smart home products. We chose TSFML because one of our customer segments aligned well with their audience – young families with homes.
We sent both our Standard Bundle and the Outdoor Motion Triggered Spot Light for an unboxing and product review. We let them decide how they wanted to present our products (including the FS Home App) but offered their audiences a 15% discount on their first Fox & Summit purchase. It took them a couple weeks to complete and here are the results:
